A Ukrainian HR website “HeadHunter Ukraine” made up a portrait of a typical Ukrainian IT developer after analyzing 77,000 CVs of different IT specialists. The basic image includes a young specialist from 22 to 35 years old, with higher tech education, and good knowledge of foreign languages, who also likes reading books at his/her free time. According to the research, almost 15% of all CVs were sent by women. We should admit the fact that the number of CVs sent by women increases every year.
More than 60% of all specialists have graduated from the university with at least BA degree but nowadays most employers (especially in the IT area) value more tech skills rather than a diploma and a college title. Most IT specialists have good or even fluent knowledge of a foreign language (especially English) and can be interviewed in this language.
The most popular job among Ukrainian IT specialists is software development (40% of all CVs); QA testing is on the second place by popularity; project managers and system administrators are on the third place.
The third part of all IT specialists has 3-5 years of working experience.
Answering the question “Why did you choose IT?”, 30% of all respondents answered “Interest in technologies”, 22% of them – “High salaries”; and 18% – “Industry opportunities and career growth”. In this case, it’s also important to mention that 31% of all IT employees are fully satisfied with their salaries, and 45% are rather satisfied than not.
Reading business and scientific books is one of the biggest hobbies of most IT specialists, along with playing video games and watching movies.
