Prometheus is Launching Course in Ukrainian on Critical Thinking

The Ukrainian educational platform Prometheus is launching a free online course on critical thinking – The Science of Everyday Thinking. This course, by the University of Queensland, is in top 3 most attended and reviewed free online courses worldwide, and it’s now translated into Ukrainian. Check our blog post with the details of the curriculum, teachers, and other information on this course.

According to a report from World Economic Forum in Davos, critical thinking will come in second place for the most important skills by 2020. Such a course is included in the typical curriculum of most Western universities, but unfortunately not yet here in Ukraine.

According to Ivan Prymachenko, Founder of Prometheus, the main idea of this course is to fill the gap between education programs in the Western universities and in the Ukrainian ones. Such a course is a topic that everyone should know.

The course “The Science of Everyday Thinking” is about the psychology of our everyday thinking: why people believe in weird things, how we form and change our opinions, why sometimes our expectations change our judgements, how we can make better and more well-informed decisions. You will use scientific studies and approaches to understand why so often we make irrational choices.

During this course you will learn:

  • The scientific method and its uses in everyday thinking;
  • Tools for improving your everyday thinking;
  • Tips for changing other people’s mind;
  • Techniques for learning and improving memory;
  • How to distinguish facts from fiction.

The teachers are: Jason Tangen (Senior Lecturer in Cognition at The University of Queensland), Mattew Thompson (Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Queensland) and Emma MacKenzie (Producer of the course “The Science of Everyday Thinking”).

The course will start on November 14th. It will last for 13 weeks. The course is totally free. You can watch video lections, check and complete tasks, and read the forum at any time you want.
