Rumoured for months, Google TV is now official and is expected to launch into our living rooms on October 17th. Previous efforts to bring the web into the lounge have been a disappointment, offering little more than poorly implemented widgets that tell you what the weather’s like and let you view YouTube clips.The search giant’s taking web TV seriously, with heavyweight partners and Google’s usual commitment to quality control. Web Development:YouTube Developer Blog Gives Flash the Nod Over HTML5

Google’s YouTube division voiced strong support for Flash in a blog post aimed at Web developers, arguing that the emerging HTML5 standard isn’t yet ready to fully replace Adobe’s Flash platform.

Web Video Solutions: Optimized Video Content for Media Portals

With growing popularity of video sharing networks, video portals become an essential part of marketing web activities. While it is relatively easy to embed a video player into a website showing 10-20 videos, the real challenge is to develop a scalable video sharing portal with up to 10,000 visitors daily, tons of indexed movies with advanced search, intense commenting, categorization, tags, and, the most important – minimum time to load the page with video content.

In this presentation we would like to share our experience on how to efficiently and reliably structure video streams and servers for a medium-to-large size video sharing portal.
