Mozilla Releases Firefox 4 Beta for Maemo and Android

Mozilla’s efforts to scale down the Firefox browser and make it work on mobile devices took another step forward today with the release of Firefox 4 beta for Maemo and Android. On Android, the browser’s performance is still not competitive with that of the platform’s native WebKit-based browser, but the gap is starting to close.

Firefox’s large disk footprint is also still problematic on Android, especially on devices like the Nexus One that have limited internal storage capacity. A fresh installation of Firefox on Android uses roughly 30MB of storage space. The first time it starts, it unpacks another 14MB, which takes about 15 seconds. Subsequent startups are faster, typically taking between 2 and 4 seconds.

The Growing Threat of Outsourcing Fraud

According to those close to the issue, a growing number of companies are at an increased risk of fraud. How so? Because they’re joining the ranks of businesses that are outsourcing critical functions to third parties.

New Draft Tax Code: Prospects of IT Sector in Ukraine

new-tax-codeToday the global software export market is valued at $90Bln: $34Bln belongs to India, $28bln to China and $2.65bln to Russia.

The IT industry has reached in Ukraine $1bln in Exports this year. With more than 20% of software export market and more than 30% annual growth, Ukraine has become a regional leader in the export of IT Services.

This growth has been possible in large part as a result of a highly skilled workforce and favorable tax conditions which allow entrepreneurs to provide programming services on single tax.

Comparing with Ukraine, competing countries are providing lower rates of social taxation in IT Industry:
