Gartner: 22 Percent Growth in Global SaaS Earnings in 2009

The latest forecasts of Gartner, the world’s leading information technology market research and advisory company, show that the market for software-as-a-service (SaaS) is expected to reach $8 billion in 2009, which is a 22% increase from 2008 revenue of $6.6 billion. Besides, the market will be consistently growing through 2013 with the worldwide SaaS revenue reaching the figure of $16 billion for the enterprise application market.

“The adoption of SaaS continues to grow and evolve within the enterprise application markets as tighter capital budgets in the current economic environment demand leaner alternatives, popularity increases, and interest for platform as a service and cloud computing grows,” said Gartner representatives.

Outsourcing Will Continue to Grow in 2009

According to the latest statement of Gartner, the world’s leading information technology market research and advisory company, outsourcing is expected to continue its growth in 2009 despite the global economic downturn.

“Although things look gloomy for the larger global economy, the outsourcing market represents a dichotomy: on the downside, organizations’ cost-cutting outsourcing strategies may negatively impact market growth, but at the same time, the upside is that outsourcing will be adopted by more organizations to help them work through financial and competitive challenges,” said Gartner representatives.

Global IT Services: Growth in 2008

In 2008 the global IT services market experienced growth due to an increased number of firms using solutions such as the outsourcing.

The new research from Gartner, the world’s largest technology business research authority, revealed that worldwide IT services revenue increased to the total of $806 billion last year as compared to the $745 billion recorded in 2007.

The researchers for Gartner’s worldwide IT services group stated that in 2008 IT services companies experienced eight months of normal operations while the remaining four were impacted by the global crisis.

Global CRM Market: 5 Years of Consecutive Growth

Provided by Gartner, the world’s largest technology business research authority, the new research has shown that the worldwide customer relationship management (CRM) market experienced growth during last year (2008).

Those interested in IT outsourcing might find curious the figures which Gartner came up with. The researchers found that the global CRM market achieved revenues of $9.15 billion in 2008. According to statistics, this figure shows a 12.5% increase on the $8.13 billion revenue reported in the previous year.

Why Developing for iPhone?

Recently, a significant growth in programming for mobile devices can be observed on the IT market, especially, it is well seen in application development for iPhones. According to the data of Gartner’s 2009 report on smartphone market, the highest sales growth rate is displayed by devices with MAC OS X operating system (iPhones) – 245.7%. Then come Research In Motion (BlackBerry) and Palm OS with 96.7% and 42.2% respectively.

Lately, access to Internet services and websites is often executed via smartphones with iPhone being the leader in this segment. Owners of this device use GPRS for Internet access 30 times more often than users of other mobile phones. This is encouraged by the Apple’s concept of “always-on” Internet access when a phone uses any possible channels of access, from local Wi-Fi to global 3G, while ensuring transparent switching between them.
