Certifications in the Technology Industry

The value of IT certifications is a constant debate in the tech industry. Some veteran IT professionals claim they’re of limited value, while others see them as key building blocks for a better career.

Technology professionals generate much debate over just that question. Many claim vendor-specific programs best measure a candidate’s skills, while others propose vendor-independent exams are the only worthy way of measuring real-world expertise. Still other observers believe the highest-level accreditations - Microsoft’s MCSE or new Architect Series certification, Cisco’s CCIE, etc. - are the only credentials that truly hold value.

Softheme Summarizes 2009 Results and Achievements

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

2009 was a tough year for all businesses worldwide due to complex economic conditions. Software outsourcing has also experienced the influence of recession, being one of the most globally integrated business domains. It was the year of cutting costs and seeking new opportunities; and when it has passed, it’s a good time to summarize the outcomes.

“Today it’s evident that the past year not only slowed down some outsourcing trends but also streamlined the evolvement of others,” states Softheme Chief Executive Vadim Sharko.

iPhone development was one of those new trends for us which gained in popularity during 2009. Development of small and single-purpose applications for mobile devices is financially beneficial – they require relatively modest investments and are sold well. Web Testing: A Next-Day Service

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Softheme offers web testing as one of our next-day services. What does this mean? This means that we have our own testing environment installed onsite (working machines, testing systems, etc) and test engineers ready to start at any time. We also provide an access to the defect-tracking system fully set up and ready for work on our side. These conditions let us start working on your project immediately and noticeably accelerate the testing process. Practically, we can start testing a project the next day after a customer’s final decision.

Usually we suggest the following engagement models for web testing projects:

1. Full-cycle testing

Basing on the requirements provided by a customer we develop a test strategy, test plan, test cases (functional, performance, usability, look and feel, and others), and then start with the first iteration of testing. At this point the team executes all required types of testing specified in the test strategy and reports discovered defects to the defect-tracking system on a daily basis. After the first iteration of testing is completed, the team starts regression testing and works in conjunction with the development team – all encountered and fixed defects are retested; all tests are re-run to ensure the functionality works as expected after bug-fixing.

Case Study: Functional and UI testing for moveme.com

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Continuing the topic of software testing, in this post we would like to present you a case study describing a project in which Softheme provided functional and UI testing services to moveme.com, a UK-based web portal.

A new web startup from London, moveme.com, which provides an online moving organizer for home-owners in the UK, turned to Softheme with the need to test their online tool. Since it is the company’s primary business application, they needed the testing to be performed very carefully and within established timeline which was accomplished by Softheme successfully.
