Smartphone and tablet PC penetration shows record growth during the last few years. Today more than every fifth phone sold is a smartphone, and by the end of 2011 this figure may rise to every fourth. According to different estimates, in 2010 about 300 million smartphones have been sold. For tablet PCs this figure equals about 20 million.

Naturally, this fact pushes demand to mobile apps from all segments and spheres of business. And the best recognition of that is the high demand for moblile apps developers.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 Web Browser Goes Live

Microsoft has said the latest version of its internet explorer web browser puts it ahead of competitors like Google and Firefox.

The software giant, which is losing market share, made the bold claim as it unveiled what is known as the release candidate of IE9.

This is the final test drive for the new browser - a chance to catch any last-minute bugs before its debut.

Apple iPad Newspaper, The Daily, To Launch Feb. 2

Apple’s iPad will host a tablet-only newspaper created by News Corp starting Feb. 2, according to an invitation circulating among media.

That digital publication, the Daily, will cost 99 cents per week. According to Reuters, the original Jan. 19 unveiling date was scrubbed “because of technical glitches.” News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch and Apple Vice President of Internet Services Eddy Cue will headline the new launch event, scheduled to take place in New York City.
