Usability: We care about it

Before creating a website, any web developer should understand the importance of making such a tool which is comfortable for a user. When visiting a site, Internet surfers primarily expect to see an easy-to-use system able to help them achieve desired result. Such an ease of website use is referred to what is called usability which is determined by creative look, intuitive navigation, and easy information accessibility.

With our diverse experience we at Softheme are able to develop sites delivering core information about the client’s business directly to the target user. Recognizing the importance of a solid approach to project development, we focus on providing our customer with an ergonomic and usable web solution. We are committed to a constant assessment of all practical standards and innovative technological practices in web design and development. Applying our knowledge into regular activities and work, we emphasize on day-to-day improvement of result quality.

Our approach to successful website development is determined by a variety of factors such as acute knowledge of human psychology, strong technological expertise, and understanding of the client’s needs and business domain. Finally, we thoroughly research users’ motives and their behavior online to adjust the site to their needs and expectations.

Analyzing any website, we mark out five major levels of users’ interaction with the web tool. They are metaphors, mental model, navigation, interaction, and appearance. We review carefully these interface components to deliver a user-oriented design. Here is a brief description of what we see as the roles of these elements:

  • Metaphors carry the mapping function and project the structure of the site to make the behavior of computers clearer to the user.
  • Mental model is the way how the user perceives that the system works.
  • Navigation helps to determine the overall usability of the site and its accessibility for people with disabilities.
  • Interaction refers to input and output sequences, including feedback for users, as well as certain aspects of their behavior online.
  • Appearance is the totality of elements the interface reflects: ornaments, graphics and text, use of multimedia, logos and colors to deliver an environment that appeals to the user.

What is also important is our approach to choosing an appropriate design for every component of user-interface. We take users’ ethnicity, gender, age, preferences, language, and social and cultural background into account, in order for the site to appeal to the target users in the most effective way.

As a result of our approach to usability, we provide our client with a website that is convenient, effectively interacting with the target audience and satisfying all business needs of the customer.

Sincerely,

Softheme team
