Next Generation of E-Readers Could Be Flexible

According to to a recent Security and Exchange Comission filing by LG, they seem to be working on a color flexible e-paper by the end of the year.

LG seems to be working on large flexible e-paper, what they might be used for is anyone’s guess. What we do know, is LG is working on a 9.7 inch and a 19 inch variation. They have been protyping this technology for awhile and recently showed off 14 inch A4 Sized paper, displaying around 16 million colors.

Anti-Facebook Diaspora Sets Launch for Sept. 15

An open alternative to Facebook will be launched on 15 September, the developers of the project have said.

Hatched by a team of New York University programming students, Diaspora raised $200,000 through a microfinancing strategy–nabbing small chunks of money from a lot of individuals.

Google Brings Voice to Gmail With Free Calls

Google just shattered the pay wall between VoIP and telephones, letting Gmail users make free voice calls to the United States and Canada.

Google promises that phone calls will remain free “for at least the rest of the year,” while calls to other countries start at $0.02 per minute. The voice service for Gmail will roll out to users over the next few days. To get started using the service, you will have to install the free “voice and video chat” Web-based service to your Gmail account here.

Outsourcing is contracting with another company or person to do a particular function. Almost every organization outsources in some way. Typically, the function being outsourced is considered non-core to the business.
