Top5 questions when choosing an outsourcing vendor

When customers select an outsourcing partner, they don’t do it blindly but rather make a carefully weighed decision basing on some conclusions. These conclusions are usually made after a vendor answers certain questions. So, here is the list of things companies usually what to know when seeking an outsourcing partner (may be interesting and useful for both parties):

1. Does the service provider have experience in similar projects? Positive and negative experiences are equally useful for making a decision. To learn this customer needs to share relevant information with other organizations.

2. Does the vendor use the quality management system? Since customers are worried about the quality of the end product, this is one of the most important questions for them. The customer might need to give the vendor a personal visit in order to inspect the company.

Offshore, Nearshore, and What, Rightshore?

Since Softheme always keeps an eye on what is going on in the world of outsourcing, we couldn’t pass by one of the latest popular outsourcing solution trends called “rightshore”. Promoted by such outsourcing giants as Capgemini and Lionbridge, this type of service offers an approach to outsourcing alternative to “good old” offshoring and nearshoring.

In general, rightshore approach still does include offshoring and nearshoring models. However, the core of this solution is providing the ideal combination of outsource locations (on-site, offshore, and nearshore) for each customer’s individual project basing on analysis of project-related factors. One of the things that we believe to be important for project management is the proper understanding of the relationship between cost and price. In this post we will try to clarify the meanings for these two words.

Price is the amount of money or something valuable that a customer is ready to pay or give in order to receive something valuable from you. In terms of project management, the thing that the stakeholder receives is the project being done, and the things that the customer and stakeholders receive are the results of the project – be it either goods or services. Money is what usually paid for doing the project. At the same time, Cost is the amount of resources (equipment, materials, money, people, etc) that are utilized in order to produce goods or services, the deliverables of the project.

Case Study: Functional and UI testing for moveme.com

Continuing the topic of software testing, in this post we would like to present you a case study describing a project in which Softheme provided functional and UI testing services to moveme.com, a UK-based web portal.

A new web startup from London, moveme.com, which provides an online moving organizer for home-owners in the UK, turned to Softheme with the need to test their online tool. Since it is the company’s primary business application, they needed the testing to be performed very carefully and within established timeline which was accomplished by Softheme successfully.
