Skype Connect 1.0Application development, Blog, Industry news, IT services, programming, Software development, software engineering, technology
As outlined in its IPO filing, Skype is making a big push for corporate customers as a way to bolster profits. Skype Connect, which just exited the beta stage, is a way to meld Internet Protocol calls with traditional private branch exchange (PBX) and Unified Communications systems. The new service enables businesses to make calls from regular phones, using the system already in place over a Skype connection for a significant cost advantage. Skype Connect enables businesses to integrate the VoIP service with their existing infrastructure. Users can make outbound calls through the regular phones to mobile networks or landlines and be billed at Skype’s standard rates. Calls to Skype users will be free. |
